Google Fiber work continues across Lawrence Residents may notice small Google markers appearing in yards and neighborhoods as GFiber contractors continue work to expand the company’s fiber network in Lawrence. The markers, sometimes referred to as “yard darts,” are placed ahead of construction to help notify residents that fiber work may soon take place in their area. Because of their small size, residents may overlook the markers or mistake them for utility locate markings. GFiber contractors are actively working in Lawrence to install infrastructure for the company’s fiber-to-the-home and small-business network. Residents with questions or concerns related to GFiber construction, including work near their property, should contact the contractor, Ervin Cable Construction, directly by calling 844-322-2524 or by emailing their team at customerservice@ervincable.com Residents may also see temporary colored flags or paint associated with utility locating. Those markings identify existing underground utilities and help crews avoid damaging infrastructure during construction. Contact: City Communications, citycommunications@lawrenceks.gov
