Lawrence Parks, Recreation and Culture’s Aquatics Division provides safe, welcoming, and accessible aquatic experiences for the community.
With indoor and outdoor facilities, splashpads, classes, fitness opportunities, special events, and recreational swimming, there are ways for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the water throughout the year.

Admission and Passes

Daily admission or a membership is required for everyone. Several admission options are offered to swimmers in the Lawrence community. Daily admission, 30-day memberships, punch cards, and annual memberships are available. All forms of admission are valid at any Lawrence Parks, Recreation and Culture aquatic facility. Memberships and punch cards may be purchased at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center.

No charge for children two years-old and younger with an adult paid admission. Limit three children (two years-old and younger) per paying adult. Children 10 years-old and younger must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Punch Cards
YOUTH/SENIOR -$55 EACH | ADULTS – $65 EACH
Each punch card contains 10 punches. Each punch is equivalent to one daily admission.
Punches are redeemable at any PRC aquatic facility. Punch cards may be purchased at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center or the Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center during summer season hours.

Why Does the Pool Water Feel Cold?
The air and water temperatures at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center are regulated separately to support different types of swimming and recreation.
The competition pool is maintained at approximately 82°F, while the surrounding air temperature is typically 85-87°F. The leisure pool is maintained at approximately 87°F, with an air temperature of approximately 89-90°F.
Because the surrounding air is generally warmer than the water, the water may feel cool when you enter the pool. Individual comfort levels and perceptions of temperature can also vary.
How Water Temperature Is Regulated
Pool temperatures are closely monitored and maintained using digital thermostats that regulate the pool boilers. For example, when a thermostat is set to 87°F, the boiler turns on when the temperature drops to approximately 86°F and turns off when the water reaches approximately 88°F.
Water quality and conditions are also checked regularly throughout the day. If a significant temperature change occurs because of an equipment issue, staff are typically able to identify it quickly.
Competition Pool Temperature
The competition pool is maintained at a temperature that supports competitive swimming, fitness, and workouts. On rare occasions, the water temperature may be lowered to 80°F to meet specific requirements for certain competitions. Advance notice is provided when these temperature changes are scheduled.
With nearly one million gallons of water in the Indoor Aquatic Center, water temperatures change gradually. Under normal conditions, it can take approximately 24 hours for the water temperature to increase or decrease by one degree.
While pool temperatures are carefully regulated, everyone experiences temperature differently. What feels comfortable to one swimmer may feel cool or warm to another.
Can I purchase a Swim Pass online?
Yes! Swim passes can now be purchased online through RecTrac. Just log in to your account and navigate to the Membership (Passes) section, or search for “Memberships (Passes).” If you already have a pass, you’ll see an option to renew it.
