Indoor Aquatic Center

The Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center offers year-round swimming, fitness, recreation, and aquatic programs for the community.

Located at 4706 Overland Drive, the Indoor Aquatic Center features a 10-lane, 50-meter competition pool and a separate family pool with zero-depth entry, a waterslide, and interactive children's play features.

Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Lap Swimming

Monday-Friday: 6:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
Monday-Thursday: 4-7:30 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

Warm Water Workouts

Ages 16 and older

Monday-Friday: 10:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

Zero-Depth Entry, Waterslide, & Children's Area

Tuesday & Thursday: 1-4 p.m.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday: Closed

Diving Area

Currently closed.

Scheduled Maintenance Shutdown

The Indoor Aquatic Center will be closed for scheduled maintenance:

Sunday, July 26-Sunday, August 16

Please note: Water areas close 15 minutes before the building closes. Waterslides and diving areas close 30 minutes before the building closes.

Some areas of the facility may be reserved for swimming lessons, fitness classes, or scheduled programs. Competitive events may also temporarily affect access to the competition pool.


About the Indoor Aquatic Center

The community-supported, $9 million facility is home to the Lawrence Parks, Recreation and Culture Aquatics Division and provides aquatic opportunities for recreation, fitness, instruction, and competition.

The facility's pools hold approximately 850,000 gallons of water and include:

Children's Area

Accessibility

Locker rooms and pools are accessible by ramp entry and lift.

Submersible wheelchairs are available for use.


Facility Rentals

The Tom Wilkerson Room is available to rent for business meetings.

Safety at the Aquatic Center

Safety is a priority at all Lawrence aquatic facilities.

Staff monitors weather conditions using lightning detection systems, visual identification, and information from the National Weather Service in Topeka.

When lightning is detected within 0-3 miles, all swimmers must exit the water and take shelter. Lifeguards provide safety instructions and guidance when weather conditions require pools to close.
