Municipal Stadium

702 East 11th Street

Built in 1947, Municipal Stadium continues to serve the Lawrence community as a venue for baseball and softball games.

The stadium was dedicated in July 1947 and hosted more than 30,000 spectators during its first season. In 2004, the East Lawrence Neighborhood Association created a mural on the exterior of the stadium as part of Lawrence's Sesquicentennial celebration. The mural depicts the history of East Lawrence, including Quantrill's Raid, the stadium's history, abolitionist newspaper editor John Speer, and the neighborhood today.

Tennis Facilities

Lawrence Parks, Recreation and Culture provides outdoor tennis courts throughout the community for free play.

Lighted Tennis Courts

The following locations have lighted courts:

  • Deerfield Park — 2901 Princeton Blvd.
  • Holcom Park — 2700 West 27th St.
  • Lyons Park — 700 N. Lyon St.
  • Veterans Park — 1840 Louisiana St.

Players can activate the court lights using the push-button controls. Lights turn off automatically.

Non-Lighted Tennis Courts

  • "Dad" Perry Park — 1200 Monterey Way
  • Prairie Park — 2811 Kensington Road

Court hours: Courts are available until 10 p.m., seven days a week.

Tennis Programs & Reservations

Parks, Recreation and Culture offers tennis classes for beginning and intermediate players. Tennis facilities may also be reserved for tournaments on a space-available basis.
