Park, Shelter and Gazebo Reservations

Plan your next gathering, celebration, or outdoor event in a Lawrence park. Parks, Recreation and Culture offers reservations for parks, shelters, and gazebos during the outdoor rental season, weather permitting.

Check Availability and Reserve Online

Shelters and gazebos may be reserved April 15 through October 30, weather permitting.

Reservation requests must be received at least three working days (Monday–Friday) before the requested reservation date.

Rental Times

Half-day reservations are available during the following time slots:

  • 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

  • 4–9 p.m.

Full-day reservations include both half-day time slots.

Shelters and gazebos have separate rental fees, with full-day and half-day options available.

Prairie Park Nature Center Pavilion

A new outdoor pavilion is available at Prairie Park Nature Center for events and gatherings.

Special Use Permits

Some events and activities require a Special Use Permit(PDF, 178KB) in addition to a park or facility reservation.

Special Use Permits must be submitted at least two weeks before the event and receive written approval before the reservation can be finalized.

A permit is required for reservations that:

  • Have more than 200 people

  • Are open to the public

  • Charge admission

  • Include items or services sold for profit

  • Sell or serve alcohol to the public

  • Include a tent larger than 10 feet by 10 feet

  • Include an inflatable play structure

  • Involve commercial filming, professional videography, or comparable photography

A Certificate of Insurance and deposit may be required.

Public health orders and guidance regarding group sizes and compliance must be followed.
