City of Lawrence Utility Services Terms and Conditions

By submitting a Start service or Transfer service request, you agree to the following terms of service:

  • Your application for service must be received by the City at least three business days before the date you want service to begin. Your requested turn-on date should be a business day. If a non-business day is requested, service will be initiated on the first business day after the date you requested. Please note, you will receive an email confirming your service and account number or advising you of additional steps you need to take to obtain services.
  • You need to have an e-mail address where the City can send a confirmation of your service request, or to contact you in the event we are not able to establish service based on your online application.
  • You must be willing to match your turn-on date for water with the turn-off date of the individual(s) leaving your new residence. This allows the City to avoid physically turning the water off. If your requested turn-on date is within 5 days of the turn-off date of the previous tenant, we will automatically match your service start date.
  • If water is currently off, the City will attempt to turn on your water. You agree to release the City of Lawrence from liability for any water related damages that may occur to your residence from turning on water service now and in the future for the requested service address.
  • By providing us with your landline or cell phone number(s), you give express authorization to the City of Lawrence to contact you at those numbers, as well as authorize such contact by our agents. This express authorization also applies to any landline or cell phone number(s) you may acquire in the future. We may also contact you by sending text messages or emails, using any e-mail address you provide to us. Methods of contact may include using prerecorded/artificial voice messages and/or use of an automatic dialing device, as applicable.
  • In agreeing to the terms of service, you release the City of Lawrence from liability for any water related damages that may occur to your residence and agree that you may be contacted using the information you've provided.
